The Houston Chronicle retracted eight reports and issued corrections in multiple others, saying they were based on fabricated information, after an outside investigation revealed 44 percent of people quoted in Ward’s stories did not appear to exist. Ward resigned earlier this year while the investigation was underway.
The President started it all, with some Trump-speak about how some former presidents didn't call the families of dead soldiers to express condolences. After he walked those comments back, Energy Secretary Perry, a veteran himself, called the public controversy over Trump's remarks as "asinine."
Add a CNN debate between U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Bernie Sanders and arguments over supposed corruption in the Texas House, part of a political drama show that involves the controversial bathroom bill.
