Wilford Hall Medical Technician Guilty of Molesting Surgical Patient

Eileen Pace

A Wilford Hall medical technician must serve time in a military prison for sexually assaulting a patient while she was still under anesthesia after surgery.

The judge in the Court-martial at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland this week found Airman First Class Michael Lightsey guilty of improperly touching a surgery patient. The offense occurred in June, 2013 as the woman lay on a gurney after an operation at the hospital’s ambulatory surgical center. The San Antonio Express-News reports Lightsey molested the patient while she was still in an anesthesia-induced fog.

Lightsey was found not guilty on charges of molesting two other women that same month, who both testified they knew he was touching them but were unable to scream for help.

An Air Force spokesman says Lightsey, who was with the 59th Medical Wing, was busted to the lowest rank of Airman Basic, handed a dishonorable discharge, and sentenced to 30 months in confinement.
