Classical Spotlight has the latest news about concerts and performances from San Antonio and the Hill Country's vibrant classical music community. Hosted by John Clare, the program showcases the week's upcoming performances with music and interviews with local artists, conductors, and nationally-renowned classical music performers.

John Clare:

A former broadcaster for NPR, John previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) and stations in Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania. In 2005, Clare earned the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio broadcasting, citing his work on 20/20 Hearing.

As a skilled violinist, Clare is experienced on the other side of the microphone, having played in concerts across the United States, including performances with famed tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli.

Peters Conducts Triple Doubles - New Bridge Records Features YOSA Music Director

The new CD "Triple Doubles" presents three recent double concertos - works composed for violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson. Performed by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, these performances have a remarkably personal quality, undoubtedly a result of the performers' close relationship with the composers and the unique bond of a husband and wife interacting with "their" orchestra. 

Troy Peters, who conducts Daron Hagen’s Masquerade, spoke with John Clare about this release.
