Ewa Kupiec plays Ravel's masterful Piano Concerto in G

Ewa has previously played Beethoven in San Antonio, and performed with maestro Sebastian Lang-Lessing several times, including the work they'll play this weekend.

"I trust him [Lang-Lessing], which is essential these days, when you're breathing together, and making music together, without tension, you know what is coming next, and you enjoy each other!"

It has been three years since the San Antonio Mastersingers performed Sing for the Cure, a work created by Pamela Martin and Brant Adams. Director John Silantien says "every time you look at it [Sing for the Cure], you can see something different, and it touches everybody! I mean it is just so powerful in its reach, and this topic of breast cancer, it seems like it is in everyone's life."

Donations are being accepted by the choral group, as well as "pink notes" that will be displayed at the concert.

Mark Rogers finds masterworks for Wind Ensemble:

The idea of a symphony for band isn't new, but hearing Brahms' First Symphony for wind ensemble might confuse you at first. Mark assures us that we will like it, and that the arrangement fits.

Project: Sing! is the Children's Chorus of San Antonio's community outreach program serving elementary children in grades 3 through 6 in the Harlandale, San Antonio and Edgewood school districts and area private schools. Participating students who do not have the opportunity or access to CCSA’s core programs join together weekly in their own neighborhood for one or two condensed semesters of singing, learning, and sharing taught by their staff.

Ruth Moreland loves pairing music with art. "There is something about singing in a space and having this art right there. Nothing better for the performers or the audience!" she says.

The Copperleaf Quintet, which Moreland founded and sings in, will set the galleries alive with songs about the Madonna.  San Antonio Museum of Art hosts Copperleaf in the Spanish Colonial Gallery for a concert of Renaissance vocal music reflecting the art in SAMA's current "Rostros de Maria" exhibit. 

Viola is the middle voice of the string family and is often considered more mellow than the violin. At Texas Lutheran University, Eliza Thomason leads the string department, teaching strings and conducting the student orchestra. This Sunday she'll be joined by Dr. Eric Daub in music by Bach, Schumann, Joan Tower and Rebecca Clarke.

The recital is free and open to the public. Sunday, November 11, at 4 p.m. in Wupperman Theater in the fine arts building on the TLU campus.

Paul Jacobs is one of the leading organists of his time, and is passing along that knowledge and skill to the next generation at the Juilliard School. Known for his stunning new music performances, Jacobs is equally mesmerizing in the "standards."

San Antonio audiences can hear Paul play Bach, Mozart, and "a pair of ladies, from France - Nadia Boulanger, known for her teaching generations of composers, in a work for organ." Jacobs also says he is looking forward to spending time in San Antonio.

Richard Stoltzman is a legendary musician, winning Grammy Awards, playing chamber music, new music and concerti around the world. He's also famous for his jazz, playing with greats like Woody Herman, Mel Torme, and Chick Corea. This weekend, Stoltzman will share his artistry with the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio Philharmonic.
