Fair Game with Faith Salie, the irreverent program that mixes comedy and satire with public radio interviews, news and cultural features, airs at 9 p.m. nightly on KSTX 89.1 FM.

PRI's Fair Game is a news and entertainment program distributed nationally on public radio.  Hosted by Faith Salie, possibly the only Rhodes Scholar who performs comedy intentionally, Fair Game covers the important stories of the day and uses insightful humor to tease out what it all means.  The show also features newsmaker and celebrity interviews, live music, and regular appearances by the country's best comedians.  Think of it as a variety show for the highest common denominator.

Farewell Fair Game

KSTX learned in mid-May that Fair Game with Faith Salie would be ceasing production as of May 30. According to Public Radio International (PRI), it was not possible to maintain a revenue stream for the show sufficient to support full production. PRI is exploring ways to give Fair Game life online in the future.

While it is never easy to make a decision like this, both KSTX and PRI are heartened by the support we did receive for Fair Game. We take pride in our role as innovators and believe that Fair Game really did attempt to do something unique on public radio. We are glad that KSTX was there from the beginning (along with a handful of other public radio stations) to help guide the show's development before it rolled out nationally. To fans of the show, Faith wants to give each of you a great big hug.

In the wake of PRIs decision, KSTX will re-examine its evening schedule and look for another informative and entertaining program. For now, Fresh Air will move up into the 9 p.m. timeslot vacated by Fair Game, followed by the BBC World Service at 10:00.
