From the Top

On The Air

From the Top with host Christopher O'Riley is a weekly radio series that showcases the nation's most exceptional pre-college age classical musicians.  Each one-hour program presents five young performers or ensembles whose stunning individual performances are combined with lively interviews, unique pre-produced segments, radio theatre skits and lighthearted musical games.

From the Top hit the airwaves in January of 2000 with over 130 public radio stations across the U.S. carrying the 52-week series, and the show is now on over 200 stations nationwide.  It's the program's fresh approach that has moved it into the unprecedented position of being the most popular weekly classical music program on the air today.

From the Top has been called "public radio's answer to MTV" by the Boston Herald, and Symphony Magazine said it's "not strictly a talk show, not strictly a musical performance show, but rather a blend of the two with a nod to the easy-going charm of A Prairie Home Companion. The Minneapolis Star Tribune declared the program is "fresh, fun and profound, and could turn out to be the best thing to happen to classical music since Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts!"
