Weekly explorations and insights into art and culture

Studio 360 looks at the places "where art and real life collide," exploring the creative influence and transformative power of art in modern life through richly textured stories and insightful conversation.  Hosted by novelist and journalist Kurt Andersen, Studio 360 touches listeners' feelings and challenges their perceptions of the world by presenting a weekly collection of ideas that are provocative and moving, from popular comic books to Wagner, Swiss Army Knives to the legacy of Woody Guthrie.

Studio 360 host Kurt Andersen is the author of the novel Turn of the Century (Random House, 1999), which The New York Times called "wickedly satirical," "outrageously funny," and "the most un-clichéd novel imaginable," and which The Wall Street Journal called a "smart, funny and excruciatingly deft portrait of our age." Director Curtis Hanson is developing the novel into a film to be co-produced by Village Roadshow Pictures and Castle Rock.

Now at work on his second novel, Andersen is also a co-founder of Inside.com and Inside magazine, publications covering the culture industries in the digital age. He has been a columnist for The New Yorker and was editor-in-chief of both New York and Spy magazines, the latter of which he co-founded.

Program segments include:

"Commentary" — Kurt Andersen's weekly musings on culture, from the new TV season to politics as entertainment.
"Cover Story" — a weekly collection of features exploring a central idea, from Shakespeare's enduring influence on popular culture to our urge to ornament everything from Christmas trees to architecture and music.
"Design for the Real World" — designers and artists talk about everyday items, from stop signs to the Post-it Note.
"Portraits" — profiles of famous artists and people behind the scenes.
"How Art Works" — an exploration of how we perceive the world and how artists play with those perceptions, from why certain songs stick in your head to how color affects your emotions.
