Pre-Trial Program Will Dismiss Misdemeanors For Young Adults

Bexar County

A new diversion program in Bexar County will allow young adult offenders ages 17-21 a chance to correct one-time indiscretions that have gotten them into trouble.

District Attorney Susan Reed said the M.I.L.E.S. program -- Meaningful Intervention Leading to Enduring Success -- will protect young offenders from spending their lives paying for one mistake as they begin their military, college, or work careers.

Judge Keith Baker Retires, Need to Fill Open Bexar County JP3 Seat

The Justice of the Peace in Precinct 3 has been a part-time position for 30 years, through all of Judge Keith Baker’s tenure while he maintained a separate law practice. After a recent audit showed 10,000 warrants have been in limbo in his court since January, Judge Baker announced he will retire at the end of this year.

First, District Attorney Susan Reed got the word out that all of those warrants will be served within the next two weeks.
