UTSA President Increases Top-Tier Campaign Goal

UTSA President Ricardo Romo announces an increase of the university's capital campaign

UTSA on Monday announced it is raising the goal for the university’s capital campaign.

UTSA launched its Top-Tier Campaign a year ago with a goal of raising $120 million. To date, the campaign has provided funding for 35 new scholarships, 26 new endowed faculty positions, and nine new research centers.

The campaign hit its target last month, or in about one-third the time the school had allotted.

UTSA President delivers 2012 State of the University Address

UTSA president Ricardo Romo re-capped the school's progress toward Tier One status in his state of the university address Wednesday.

Dr. Romo outlined some of the new initiatives to help incoming students - such as the new Graduation Rate Improvement Plan, or 'GRIP.'  GRIP will proactively work with 250 high-school students in San Antonio to make sure they are prepared for college-level courses, with the goal of helping them avoid remedial classes when they get to college.
