Van De Putte Raising Funds For SIDS Research With 5K In Memory Of Grandson

State Sen. Leticia Van De Putte has announced a newly-created 5K run in honor of her grandson, Rex Neal Van De Putte, who died this year from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

The first 5K Walk/Run for Rex this Saturday morning will benefit SIDS research.

Rex was six months old when he died May 7 and Van De Putte said crib death takes the life of a baby in Bexar County every two and a half weeks.

YOSA On The (Fun) Run With Beethoven

YOSA (Youth Orchestras of San Antonio) are usually on the move, but this weekend, they hope you will join them in a 5k/10k fun run. This is the second year the group has led a "Beat Beethoven's Fifth" race and they are joined by Fleet Feet Sports San Antonio, as well as Texas Public Radio, for the event Saturday morning.

Employee Health Screenings Help Trim City Budget

On Tuesday, city employees rolled up their sleeves to take blood pressure and other tests as part of a biometrics wellness screening.

"It's just good to know where you stand as far as your health," said K Rahman, who has worked in the city’s public works department for six years. Rahman also said he has seen an increase in the city’s focus on healthy initiatives for its employees.
