The countdown is on for Fiesta 2013 and Mayor Julián Castro is asking Fiesta-goers be fit and green during the 11-day celebration.

April 18 through April 28 San Antonians will be occupied with traditional parades and parties. Castro said Fiesta is the time for fun and frivolity, but it can be done while keeping Fiesta green.

"We’re here today to invite folks out, of course, to Fiesta, but also to challenge San Antonians to participate in this fit and green Fiesta in the year 2013," Castro said.

As B-cycle nears its two year anniversary in San Antonio, five new stations north and east of downtown have been installed.

The new B-cycle stations are at the Zoo, the Witte Museum, Tri-point YMCA, the South St. Mary’s Acemart and Sunset Station. The station at the Witte is now the farthest northern location.

There are now 35 stations and B-Cycle executive director Cindy Snell said they hope to have 50 stations by the end of this year.

San Antonio’s bike share program is expanding into the South Side with several new B-cycle kiosks around the Missions.

Cyclists rode to Mission San Jose to illustrate the new availability of B-cycle just south of downtown; six new stations have been added at some of San Antonio’s Mission’s along the Mission Reach.
