A Special Trip To The "North Pole" For Terminally-Ill Children In San Antonio

United Airlines is providing the plane for a special Christmas "Fantasy Flight" for 75 terminally-ill children this Saturday, Dec. 7.

The event is a San Antonio-local effort in cooperation with the American Cancer Society.

The "Flight to the North Pole" is an elaborately-staged scenario where the kids arrive at a private airport hangar and are run through security checks with real TSA security agents.

"Once they’re cleared and have their boarding passes, they get on the airplane," said event organizer Connie Harrison.

Thieves Steal Money, But Not The Giving Spirit At Local Bakery

The owners of a burglarized bakery on the north side are refusing to give in to the bad guys. They are making the best of a bad situation by turning their loss into a gain for others.

Taylor Becken and Eric Lowe are 21 and 22 years old and together they own the C’est La Vie Bakery at Lockhill-Selma and West Avenue, which has been open about two months.

Each morning they arrive early in the morning to begin baking the day’s bread, but on Monday they found their front door smashed open. Becken said his mother was the first to see the shattered door.

Jefferson Bank Hoilday Charity Drive Benefits ChildSafe Kids

Many children around San Antonio will be served special meals this holiday season or may be on one of Santa’s special lists to receive toys. But there are some kids in the area who are just glad to be safe.               

ChildSafe provides specialized services to children that have been abused, neglected or sexually assaulted. This year those children will receive new toys, thanks to Jefferson Bank’s Boots Up for Charity toy drive.
