San Antonio Fire Museum Society Gets Key to Future Site of Museum

Bob Heckman is with the Fire Museum Society and is the project manager for the renovation of the museum. He says the LaFrance pumper doesn’t have all of her original parts.

The headlights are from an old Ford Model A and the horn is a slightly modern adaptation as well, but it's history, and story of the San Antonio Fire Department is undeniable.

“We’re really anxious," said Heckman, who is now retired from firefighting. "We want to explain our history.”

Saturday Night Brought Big Hits to Scottish Rite Center

Last week, TPR News brought you the story of a fighter struggling to make his weight class so he could compete in the 2012 San Antonio Golden Gloves competition. Through tough bouts that had record-setting numbers at Woodlawn Gymnasium, that fighter, Edward Ortiz, made it to the finals this Saturday night at the Scottish Rite Center.

The Source: Public Art In San Antonio

There’s a new emphasis on public art around the city, and San Antonio’s public arts effort has been awarded a portion of the city budget to create art projects throughout town. The Mulberry Bridge project is the latest work of public art; it’s located at Brackenridge Park. Eileen Pace visits to the Brackenridge Golf Club and talks with artist Diane Kersey, creator of the Toad and Golf Bridges artwork. Also, David Martin Davies also gives us a peek at a Year of Jazz, a citywide celebration that kicks off October 23.
