Update: Judge Grants Defense Motion To Supress Cell Phone Evidence

Lackland, the 'gateway' to the airforce, has been the gateway to court-martial for instructors engaging in activities against Air Force regulations.

(Update: 2/22/2013) Military Judge Don Eller ruled the government’s 77-page list of cell phone data violates the instructor’s Constitutional rights, saying investigators extracted the information without a search warrant.

He added that at some point during the investigation, somebody at Joint Base San Antonio should have had a light bulb go on that told them to find a magistrate and file affidavits to get a search warrant.

Air Force Top brass told a Congressional committee Wednesday that they had failed in their responsibility to maintain order and discipline among Lackland basic training instructors.

Veterans who were sexual assault victims told the committee that the culture of power abuse is the same today as it was decades ago when they served in the Air Force.

Air Force Announces Results Of Investigation Into Lackland MTI Sexual Assault Cases

Gen. Edward Rice leads the Air Education and Training Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph and it is now in his hands to fix the problems at the base.

On Wednesday, Air Force investigators announced the findings of their probe into cases of sexual assault by military training instructors at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Since January 1, 2012, dozens of cases have been uncovered; five instructors have been convicted, one was punished for military violations, and General Edward Rice, Commander of the Air Education Training Command, said dozens of other charges are being considered.

Gen. Edward Rice Meets With Congress to Discuss Lackland Scandal and Reform

Gen. Edward Rice, who leads the Air Education and Training Command in San Antonio, has met with select members of Congress in the ongoing sex scandal at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Rice said unprofessional relationships at basic military training will not be tolerated.

Rice promised to establish and maintain an environment that he says is consistent with the high standards of professional conduct that the Air Force demands of instructors.
