A bill in the Texas House proposes removing the concealed portion of Texas gun laws allowing license holders to freely display their weapons.

State Rep. George Lavender, R-Texarkana, proposed HB 700, which alters the code that says a firearm can’t be seen, but does require it be in a belt or shoulder holster with dual points of resistance.

Mayor Julián Castro is holding a re-election rally on Feb. 2 to "officially" announce his run for mayor in 2013, but a video released yesterday already makes his intentions clear.

Now, officials at the Texas Department of Public Safety are promising shorter lines for those and other services at their new "Mega Center" in Leon Valley, which opened on Friday, January 18.

The DPS Driver’s License Mega Center is the state’s answer to long lines in six locations, including Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, two in Houston, and San Antonio.
