Immigration Reform A Small Part Of President's Address, Divided Reaction

While President Barack Obama covered a lot of territory in last night’s State-of-the-Union, one topic that’s being scrutinized is immigration reform. 

It took President Obama almost exactly an hour to deliver the annual address and 2 minutes and 18 seconds of it was dedicated to immigration reform.

“And right now, leaders from the business, labor, law enforcement, and faith communities all agree that the time has come to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” he said.

Castro Annouces Re-Election: "I'm Not Going Anywhere"

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro announced he’ll be seeking a third term leading city hall, and just like his keynote at the DNC, Castro was introduced by his twin brother, Congressman Joaquín Castro.

“You know, over the last four years I have watched my brother do every single thing that he can to make San Antonio the greatest American city we can possibly be," said Joaquín. "Whether it’s confronting our challenges to bringing more jobs to San Antonio, education – with Pre-K 4 SA, healthcare with combating childhood obesity.”

Video: Mayor Castro Makes Case For Re-Election

Mayor Castro celebrates the passing of the Pre-K 4 SA initiative on election night with his family.

Mayor Julián Castro is holding a re-election rally on Feb. 2 to "officially" announce his run for mayor in 2013, but a video released yesterday already makes his intentions clear.

Castro took some big political strides in his second term in the office, and the announcement effectively puts an end to talk that he will run for a higher office anytime soon.

Castro Twins Talk Gun Control With PBS's Charlie Rose

San Antonio’s political power twins Julián and Joaquín Castro continue to attract the spotlight of the national media. Yesterday the brothers were guests on the PBS Charlie Rose program. 

Joaquín is just days away from being sworn in as a congressman and Julián is moving forward with implementing the recently passed Pre-K for SA program.

The two sat down with PBS interviewer Rose, who quizzed the two with questions about their lives, ambitions and policy views - particularly about gun control.

Pete Gallego Watch Party, Castros Talk Latino Voting, And A Texas Election Wrap-up

In what was one of the wildest rides in the Texas - Congressional District 23 - Democrat Pete Gallego beat incumbent Francisco Canseco in a race the GOP candidate finally conceded today (Friday). Republicans still control the Texas House, but Democrats gained seven seats to eliminate the Republican super-majority. The influential Latino vote is a hot topic, and both Castro brothers were on news networks this week to talk about the future. Sylvia Manzano from Latino Decisions talks about her thoughts going forward. Finally, Harvey Kronberg joins us to size up the Texas results.
