Rear Admiral Anatolio B. Cruz, who graduated from Antonian High School, returns to his native San Antonio as the first ever liaison between the local community and the Navy.

“In chatting with him, his primary purpose is to ensure that the community is aware of a significantly higher naval presence here, but also to assist if there are ever any issues between the community and the Navy here," said Brigadier General Robert Murdock, U.S. Air Force retired.

Army North Caisson Featured In Western Heritage Parade

It’s a tradition for the solemn U.S. Army Caisson Platoon to march in local events, even ones as festive as the parade that signals the beginning of rodeo season in San Antonio.

Lt. Col. Wayne Shanks at Fort Sam Houston said the platoon’s appearance helps keep the Army connected to the community.

Clydesdales Bring Christmas Cheer To Wounded Warriors

Some local members of the military got a treat at the Warrior and Family Support Center Wednesday when Budweiser brought in its famous Clydesdale horse team to visit with the soldiers and their families.

These horses meet millions of people each year, and a gentle disposition is a key characteristic.

Fort Sam's Own Performs Free Holiday Concert Saturday, Dec. 8

If you’re looking for something special to do this weekend, you can honor military service members at a special concert Saturday night.

Fort Sam’s Own, the official band of U.S. Army North, will perform a holiday celebration free of charge to residents and visitors.

They’ll play a list of multi-cultural songs including: "Home for Christmas," "Christmas Eve at Sarajevo," "O Hanukah," and "Los Peces en el Rio."

The concert is Saturday evening at 7 at the Scottish Rite Auditorium on Avenue E, and everyone gets in free.
