Thousands of people crowded the parking lot of Cowboys Dancehall this morning for the 35th annual Cowboy Breakfast in what has become a San Antonio Rodeo tradition. Although people show up for the free food, one local college benefits from the remaining sponsorship money

Roughly 35,000 people turned out for this year’s breakfast, and the unseasonably warm 60 degree weather and overcast skies only helped attendance.

Taking in the music, Brenda Duarte was waiting in line for food and said this is her third year attending with family.

$3 Million Training Facility Boosts Vocational Education In San Antonio

The newest Cats are sophisticated GPS-equipped machines that require specialized training to operate.

Holt Cat opened the new training facility on Thursday as part of the company’s two-pronged approach to develop more skilled workers for high-tech industries.

San Antonio has a share of specialized vocational schools that feed into local industries, such as the cooperative program between the Alamo Colleges and the aerospace industry, but some say that overall, a college-oriented culture has pushed vocational training in public schools aside.

Reinvestment Zones Expand To Include More Areas Of Town

W. Southcross between Quintana Road and Dwight Middle School is now included in the city's reinvestment policy program.

The City of San Antonio’s Inner City Reinvestment/Infill Policy for several years has focused on reinvesting in neighborhoods, businesses and properties, particularly in urban areas that have gone untouched for decades.

But now the program is expanding, and District 5 Councilman David Medina couldn’t be more excited.
