Brooks City Base Chooses CEO Finalist To Lead Development

The Brooks Development Authority board voted to enter into contract negotiations for its next chief executive officer, but leaders are not ready to divulge his or her identity.

Manny Pelaez, chairman of the Brooks Development Authority, said the board interviewed 402 viable candidates out of the 6,000 applicants.

Last week the field of applicants for the next CEO of Brooks was narrowed to only five, and Wednesday the board chose one to take Brooks into the future.

Korean Energy Company To Bring 400 Jobs To Brooks City-Base

The Korean energy company Nexolon has chosen San Antonio as its headquarters in the U.S., and promised Wednesday to bring 400 high-paying jobs to the area.

Nexolon America broke ground on a new 240,000 square foot facility at Brooks City-Base to manufacture solar panels for sale in North and South America.

Council Approves Solar Facility Deal For Brooks City Base

In exchange for creating hundreds of jobs, the city has agreed to a business deal with solar manufacturing company Nexolon America.

Nexolon will build a manufacturing plant at Brooks with ordinances to create a reinvestment zone at the base including: A 10-year 100 percent tax abatement, $400,000 in grant money to create 400 jobs, and $12 million for future infrastructure improvements.

Mayor Julián Castro believes the project contributes to the vision of SA2020 to create a highly skilled workforce.
