Next Step In Pre-K 4 SA, SAISD Approves Partnership

Now that the program has passed, city council and the mayor are working to have it ready for Fall enrollment.

One of San Antonio’s largest school districts has signed a memorandum of understanding with the city on the Pre-K 4 SA program.  

The San Antonio Independent School district’s board of trustees unanimously approved the partnership with the city last night. SAISD Spokeswoman Leslie Price said the agreement will be the framework between the district, city, and Texas Education Agency:

Five Tutoring Companies Being Investigated For Fraud, Possibly More

San Antonio Independent School District is investigating at least five tutoring services that may have committed fraud. The companies are accused of requesting money for providing services to SAISD students that may not have been tutored.

The five companies have received about $240,000 from SAISD, some of which may have been requested fraudulently.

SAISD Testing Tablets To Increase Student Performance

San Antonio Independent School District is testing out technology to increase student performance.

This semester, 22 students at Fox Tech high school will do their reading, check assignments and conduct lab experiments using a Kindle tablet.

Senior Marina Garcia is one of the students taking part in the pilot program in one of the school’s advanced placement biology classes.

SAISD's Alamo Stadium Getting Facelift

Two years after SAISD voters approved a $500,000 bond package, renovations on the districts historic Alamo Stadium have finally broken ground.

Ten athletes from each of the district's middle and high schools ceremoniously broke through a banner in pep rally fashion as the keys to Alamo Stadium were handed off to contractors to begin the 18-month reconstruction. Alamo Stadium is a piece of history for the entire city.

The $35 million in renovations is the largest since the stadium was built in 1939 using rocks from the quarry that is now the zoo.
