Southwest School Of Art's Fiesta Arts Fair Is This Weekend

The Southwest School of Art is putting on their Fiesta Arts Fair this weekend. It all happens under the pecans and crape myrtles in between the limestone buildings and shady walkways that make up the old Ursuline campus downtown.

“This weekend we have what some people say is their very favorite, or their only, Fiesta event, and that’s Fiesta Arts Fair," said Southwest School of Art President Paula Owen.

Will Your Child's Summer Be A Work Of Art?

Even while many San Antonio families are enjoying Spring Break this week, they're already thinking of summer, and what the kids will be doing while school's out. The Southwest School of Art’s summer program registration is just around the corner, and they offer a ten week long summer studio experience.

Get In Touch With Your "Artsy" Side At Southwest School Of Art

How have your New Year’s resolutions held up? Here is a place where some of you might actually be able to keep them. If one of your resolutions was to re-connect with the artsy you, or to try and tap into that "right brain" of yours, there’s the Southwest School of Art.

"It’s never too late to be creative," said Southwest’s Drawing and Painting Department Chair Vincent Valdez.

Valdez is encouraging San Antonians to come down and maybe find the rest of who they are.

Religion And Science Mix In New Southwest School Of Art Exhibit

Artist Chris Sauter wants you to question the notions of religion and science, and how they interact -- or don't interact.

"If you’re a religious person you can’t really believe in science and if you’re a scientific person you can’t really believe in religion," he said. "I think that’s a fallacy."

So Sauter creates art to get you to think about how they have a certain overlap. Soon, he will have four themed exhibitions in four separate locations.

"The Southwest School exhibition is the first," he said. "It opens on November 21."
