As part of a larger strategy to build new arts facilities at the University of the Incarnate Word, a new ceramics and sculpture studio was dedicated Tuesday.

UIW President Louis Agnese explained at the unveiling how the Ruth Eilene Sullivan Ceramic and Sculpture Studio signals a renewed commitment to the arts.

"We wouldn't be spending $16 million at the corner of Broadway and Hildebrand on all of our programs on music and art if we were not focused on that area," Agnese said.

San Antonio Independent School District

The idea of a medical school on the campus of Fox Tech High School has taken a major step forward with an agreement between San Antonio Independent School District and the University of the Incarnate Word.

The letter is currently only agreed-to terms between the SAISD and UIW and the full contract is still in negotiations.

UIW wants to build a medical school, and Fox Tech, now a magnet-only campus, has an empty football field. Per the agreement, the SAISD will supply 2.5 acres of land to the UIW for 25 years. A cash payment of $1.5 million would be made over two years.

The music of Mozart has not gone out of style since his time, and the third incarnation of the Mozart Festival Texas has some of the master's greatest works on tap. "Of course, we feature other composers too," says founder and maestro Terry Frazor. "This year Beethoven, Brahms, and even Scarlatti get their due."

Holiday music is a tradition for many different kinds of people, crossing race, faith and style lines. Sounds of the season vary with groups, but are also a tradition for many directors and ensembles.

"There is a lot of really good repertoire out there for this time of the year, and if it is not for women's voices, we make it that way!"
