Leaders in sports safety gathered Friday in San Antonio to field questions about new equipment standards for sports, including football, baseball and lacrosse.

The National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment is a non-profit that funds research into sports-related injuries and medicine.

They determined that certain rotational forces contribute to concussions during football. This year, NOCSAE issued new guidance for football helmets based on that information.

The Trump Administration wants to grow the Army substantially, even as potential recruits get harder to find. That's putting more pressure on recruiters than they've seen in years.

A coalition of 40 local organizations is working to ensure that by 2024, every young person in San Antonio has access to out-of-school programs to help them grow, learn and thrive.

The SpawGlass Foundation Tuesday awarded a $22,500 dollar grant to the Respite Care Center of San Antonio.

Respite Care’s mission is to help children with special needs to heal from complicated medical procedures or from neglect or abuse, and the funds will provide scholarships to care for more special-needs children.

Babies to young children come in with major disorders, cognitive impairment, and birth defects. Some are injured or addicted to drugs after birth, and the shelter is filled to capacity.

The last decade was a disaster in terms of American employment. The people that have suffered the most though are a group of people not often considered -- the nation's youth. Basic job skills, employment socialization and other skills are all having to be learned later in life because the ability for a young adult to get a job has fallen off a cliff.
