Gastown
July 29, 2008

One of the Streets in Historic Gastown.
This is the same street where the Steam Clock is located.

Before there was a Vancouver, there was Gastown. Founded in 1867, it was named after one of the first settlers, a tavern owner nicknamed "Gassy Jack" Deighton. In the early 1900's Gastown was the commercial center of Vancouver. Today it remains an historic shopping district and tourist attraction.
