Attention all youth filmmakers, save the date! URBAN-15 and the Josiah Media Festival announce their call for entries for the 18th Josiah media Festival! Filmmakers must be 21 years old or younger, and submit their films between May 1st, 2024 and August 1st, 2024.
Entry Guidelines:
• Filmmakers must be 21 years old or younger• Films must not exceed 20 minutes• Filmmakers must complete all required forms and submit films in valid format, more information at URBAN15.org• Films will be entered into one of four categories: Narrative, Documentary, Animation or Experimental
The Josiah Media Festival will award cash prizes for the top three winners in each film category!

Night of Artists draws artists, collectors and art enthusiasts to the Briscoe for two days of unforgettable festivities on the San Antonio River Walk and kicks off one of the premier Western art exhibitions and sales in the world. Beyond the opening celebration, Night of Artists is a public exhibition and sale that spans six weeks at the Briscoe, March 24 – May 5.
From scenic landscapes, stunning wildlife and classic cowboys to inspired Native Americans and dazzling vaqueros, the wide range of artworks reflects the vast beauty of the American West – and features something for every art enthusiast. In the 60’s Houston folk music scene George Ensle was sharing stories, songs, and stages with Townes van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Billy Joe Shaver, just to name a few. After more than five decades he still maintains the essence of that folk tradition, the story song. His performances are filled with wit, wisdom, grit, and always hope, his edgy vocals accompanied with intricate fingerstyle guitar, resonator, and keyboard.
Co-headliner Butch Hancock has lyrically been compared to the likes of Bob Dylan, and today is a member of The Flatlanders, though primarily has performed as a solo artist. Highly regarded by his peers as one of the premier Texas singer-songwriters, he has been called “one of the finest songwriters of our time.” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
Gemini Ink hosts a reading and open mic night on Friday, May 10th to celebrate American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Featured authors Gemini Wahhaj and Chaitali Sen will share their powerful fiction inspired by immigration and political unrest. The evening starts with readings by Wahhaj and Sen, followed by a community open mic. Bring your poems, stories, or thoughts to share (with a 3-minute time limit). Sign-up starts at 6pm!
