Attention all youth filmmakers, save the date! URBAN-15 and the Josiah Media Festival announce their call for entries for the 18th Josiah media Festival! Filmmakers must be 21 years old or younger, and submit their films between May 1st, 2024 and August 1st, 2024.
Entry Guidelines:
• Filmmakers must be 21 years old or younger• Films must not exceed 20 minutes• Filmmakers must complete all required forms and submit films in valid format, more information at URBAN15.org• Films will be entered into one of four categories: Narrative, Documentary, Animation or Experimental
The Josiah Media Festival will award cash prizes for the top three winners in each film category!

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center announces the call for entries for CineFestival San Antonio, the nation’s original and longest-running Latino film festival. Celebrating its 45th edition, San Antonio’s annual celebration of independent Latino cinema will take place July 11-14, 2024. The festival will accept films finalized after January 2023, continuing its call for programming focusing on Chicano, Latinx and Native American cinema, with an emphasis on Texas and San Antonio related films. The regular deadline for call for entries is May 5, 2024.
Experience the world-premiere of Huntopia: Bunnies, Birds, and Butterflies at the San Antonio Botanical Garden.
Created by famed artist, Hunt Slonem, this outdoor art exhibit creates a whimsical world filled with the iconic colorful bunnies, birds, and butterflies the artists has been painting for decades.
Slonem's signature animal muses will be giant-sized for plenty of photo-worthy moments for families and friends throughout the Garden’s 38 acres.

Mission Marquee Plaza Farmers & Artisans Market, every first and third Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., March to November. Summer hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May to August. A yoga or Zumba fitness class will kick off each market at 9 a.m.! All fitness levels are welcome. Find fresh, locally sourced foods and explore the handmade crafts and products from local pop-up vendors. Healthy cooking demos, nutrition education sessions, and seasonal Tree Adoptions hosted by the San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department. Admission is free! Parking On-site! This summer, join the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office for an unforgettable outdoor experience! Enjoy the FREE family-friendly event including entertainment, food trucks, and a screening of Illumination’s, Sing 2 (G) on the original jumbo screen. Night of Artists draws artists, collectors and art enthusiasts to the Briscoe for two days of unforgettable festivities on the San Antonio River Walk and kicks off one of the premier Western art exhibitions and sales in the world. Beyond the opening celebration, Night of Artists is a public exhibition and sale that spans six weeks at the Briscoe, March 24 – May 5.
From scenic landscapes, stunning wildlife and classic cowboys to inspired Native Americans and dazzling vaqueros, the wide range of artworks reflects the vast beauty of the American West – and features something for every art enthusiast. Participating artists this year include Billy Schenck, Don Oelze, Z.S. Liang, John Coleman, C. Michael Dudash, George Hallmark, Kim Wiggins, Jeremy Lipking, Bonnie Marris, Michael Ome Untiedt, Teresa Elliot, Jan Mapes, Kevin Red Star and Walter Matia.
Notable new artists and artists returning to the exhibition this year include Brandon Bailey, G. Russell Case, David Griffin, Jennifer Johnson, Huihan Liu, James Morgan, Ed Natiya, Scott Tallman Powers and Morgan Weistling.

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, teachers and educators can lasso art, culture and history for free at the Briscoe Western Art Museum May 3 – 6. Educators can simply present their school ID or proof of employment to receive free admission – and a 10% in the Briscoe’s Hendler Family Museum Store.
The Briscoe offers free tours to students of all ages as well as an outreach program, educational materials and activity sheets to help educators share the West with their students. The teacher appreciation special includes the closing weekend of the museum’s Night of Artists Exhibition and Sale. From scenic landscapes and stunning sculptures to inspired Native Americans, vaqueros and charreadas, more than 280 works by today’s top Western artists are on display through May 5. One of the premier Western Art exhibitions in the world, Night of Artists features new works of painting, sculpture and mixed media by 86 leading contemporary Western artists. Once the exhibition concludes, the works join private collections, making Night of Artists the only opportunity to view the collection.
The Autism Treatment Center invites the community to join in celebrating the creative talents of individuals with autism at “Art for Autism.” This event showcases artwork created by artists with autism, of all ages and abilities, providing them with a platform to display and sell their work. All artwork sales will go to the artists, who are all members of the Autism Treatment Center.
