2018 Elections Forum: Bexar County Precinct 2 Democrats Prepare For Primary

Texas Public Radio's "The Source" is hosting a series of forums with candidates leading up to the 2018 midterm elections. Early voting for the 2018 primary elections starts next week on Feb. 20. Primary Election Day is March 6.

The Bexar County Commissioners Court's Precinct 2 has been held by former state representative Paul Elizondo for a record-setting nine terms.

Now 82, Elizondo is seeking his tenth and final term, and must first face two challengers in the Democratic primary – Mario Bravo and Queta Rodriguez – in order to move on to the general election against a Republican opponent.

Bravo, a newcomer to running for public office, is the Texas outreach specialist for the Environmental Defense Fund and runs on a platform of increased public health and safety.

Rodriguez, a retired Captain of the Marine Corps, comes from a family of public servants and sits on various local advisory boards.

What can both San Antonio natives offer the community? What are the big issues in Precinct 2? What issues should be on the forefront for leadership in Bexar County?
