Boerne Kickstarts Its New Marketing Campaign In Houston Movie Theaters

The City of Boerne is kicking in a $30,000 initial investment to kick-start its downtown destination marketing campaign. Boerne has been a high-growth area for some time, and the city’s Special Projects Director Paul Barwick says the more visible big box stores can distract visitors from the historic downtown district.

Barwick says the core marketing plan uses the “Hill Country Mile,” to designate the 1.1-mile stretch that carries visitors through the historic homes, buildings, hotels, shops and restaurants. He says one of Boerne’s prime target markets for weekend stays is Houston, where the city is placing ads in movie theaters.

Barwick also plans to advertise the city in Texas Monthly, Austin Monthly and Texas Highways…just to make sure day trippers stop by too.

Barwick also hopes more visitors could lead to more economic development for Boerne — especially in the downtown area, where he says infill development is available right off Main Street.
