Councilman Proposes Waiver Of Alarm Permit Fees In Some Cases

City of San Antonio

District 2 City Councilman Alan Warrick has announced the filing of a Council Consideration Request (CCR), which seeks to waive the alarm permit fee for a variety of people in San Antonio.

“We need to remove any barriers that might make it harder for a crime victim or a woman under a protective order to have a home security system installed,” said Warrick. “This is a common sense step that will give peace of mind and enhanced personal protection to San Antonio families.”

Warrick’s CCR will allow anyone who is under a protective order, the victim of a crime, or enrolled in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s crime victims’ services notification program, to receive a waiver of the $40 alarm permit fee. The fees will be waived when a person produces proper documentation from the court or a police report.

Supporting Councilmembers Cris Medina, Rebecca Viagran, Ron Nirenberg, and Roberto Treviño were present at the announcement of the CCR. Councilman Ray Lopez was also a signatory to the proposal.
