Former prosecutor Ina Minjarez and former San Antonio City Council member Delicia Herrera are headed to a runoff race in Texas House District 124.

One of the two Democrats will fill the Westside San Antonio seat held by Jose Menendez.  He vacated the position when he won a special election to replace Leticia Van de Putte in the Texas Senate.

Minjarez captured 42 percent of the vote in the low-turnout election where just over two percent of the registered voters cast ballots.  She needed more than 50 percent to win the seat outright.   Herrera received 28 percent of the vote.

Nathan Alonzo, the legislative director of the San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters, had 24 percent and David Rosa, an insurance agent, had six percent .

The Bexar County Elections sitehas detailed results.
