A case of Zika Virus has been reported in Austin.  The man was traveling in Colombia when he became infected with the disease.  Zika Virus has now shown up in every major Texas city.

It’s generally spread through the bite of the Aedes mosquito.

The mosquito is prevalent along the Texas Gulf Coast, but researchers say they have not seen any evidence of the disease in the Texas mosquito population.

Earlier this week, health officials in Dallas County confirmed the country’s first case of a person transmitting the disease to another person through sexual contact.

Governor Abbott expedited the process of appointing 31 health and public safety experts to the State’s Task Force on Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response following news of the latest confirmed cases.

Ryan started his radio career in 2002 working for Austin’s News Radio KLBJ-AM as a show producer for the station's organic gardening shows. This slowly evolved into a role as the morning show producer and later as the group’s executive producer.
