UPDATED at 6:40 p.m to reflect city of San Antonio incentive package.

Texas Public Radio has learned that Santa Monica video-streaming giant Hulu has picked San Antonio to be the home of a massive new service center.

It will add up to 500 jobs to the city's technology sector. Earlier this month, Texas Public Radio broke the story that San Antonio was one of two finalists for Hulu's Viewer Experience Operations Headquarters.  The other finalist was Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In a statement to TPR, Mayor Ivy Taylor said, "When I led a delegation to California a few weeks ago, this is exactly the outcome we were working toward. I understand there are still a few hurdles to cross, but I am excited that Hulu has selected San Antonio for its next major investment."

Hulu is accepting a large incentive package from the City, Bexar County, and the state’s Texas Enterprise Fund.

The city of San Antonio will vote next week on a six-year, 100 percent tax abatement on property located at 4511 Horizon Hill. The city estimates the abatement would cost $278,589.

To qualify for the incentive, Hulu must create 500 jobs over the next 3 years. After a year, 70 percent of the jobs must pay more than $15.68 an hour. 65 of the jobs have to make a minimum salary of $50,000 a year. They also must participate in the city's digital inclusion initiatives.

Both City Council and the County Commissioners' Court will have to vote on their respective packages.

According to state officials, access to the Texas Enterprise funds means at least 75 of the jobs will pay at least $48,083 annually.

City and county officials have said the jobs will range from employment in the call-center, tech support, management, and software engineers. According to glassdoor.com a Hulu Viewer Experience Advocate makes $15 dollars an hour.

The facility would reportedly be up and running in the fall of this year.

Hulu has declined to comment on this story.
