Is ISIS Crossing The Texas-Mexico Border?

NBC news

As the United States engages the terrorist organization ISIS or ISIL in Iraq and Syria, there are people here sounding the alarm that the Texas Mexico border is being crossed by members of the Islamic State seeking to harm to Americans.

Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter was on Fox News this week (video below) saying that he believes that members of ISIS have already crossed the border.

“I received an intelligence report that said that there was ISIS cells that were active in the Juarez area, which is the northern part of the Chihuahua state, and that they were moving around over there, that there was some activity.” The report asked “for the sheriffs along the border to be on the alert, for all law enforcement to be on the alert, and to be on the lookout for these people maybe trying to come across.” - Sheriff Gary Painter, Midland County, Texas

Sheriff Painter said there is evidence found on the border supporting his claim.

However on Wednesday at a congressional hearing on homeland security officials who lead the agencies in charge of protecting the homeland said there is no credible evidence of a threat from ISIS or any terrorist organizations looking to cross the southern border.

El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke who sits on the committee on Homeland Security says problems of border security have been exaggerated.
