From arts to roots music to a yoga/cardio workout--there's a huge variety of weekend events for you. To start out, let's head to Bandera.
"It's our third annual Jailhouse Art Show, Rebecca Norton says. She says the jailhouse was designed in the 1880s by one of Texas's great architects, Alfred Giles. Along with fine local arts at this show, you can see arts left by...lesser talents.
"Many of the inmates would carve into the limestone walls or into the floor. So you can see sketches of horses, and women," Norton says.
Saturday's Jailhouse Art Show features lots of history, but also plenty of art.
"We're not only featuring paintings, we're also featuring locally-made pottery, handmade jewelry," she says.
That's Saturday in Bandera. Then on Saturday night, James McMurtry (hear him by hitting Listen above).
"I'm stocking shirts in the WalMart store, just like the ones we made before, 'cept this one comes from Singapore, I guess we can't make it here anymore...," sings McMurtry.
He's one of folk music's smartest, most creative voices and he plays Sam's Burger Joint on Saturday night. Then on Sunday morning...Om...
"Mobile Om is a traveling yoga studio," says Cassandra Fauss, the owner of Mobile Om.
"We collaborate with local businesses and public spaces to bring yoga out of the studio," she says.
They're collaborating this week with a spin studio where they'll ride stationary bikes before doing yoga.
"It's really to get your heart rate going, get a lot of cardiovascular workout and get your sweat on," Fauss says.
Then after that workout, it's yoga time.
"We kinda slow things down with the yoga. You leave nice-n-balanced. Nice-n-centered."
