Kerrville Emergency Management Issues Yellow Alert for Flooding

The City of Kerrville has experienced a large amount of rainfall in the last 48 hours and with more rain in the forecast, emergency management crews have raised the Emergency Alert level to yellow.

A flash flood watch remains in effect through Thursday evening, and many of Kerrville's streets and low water crossings have been closed for public safety.

The City of Kerrville reminds residents to take precautions when a flash flood warning is issued.

Drivers should observe the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” rule when encountering flooded roads. According to the National Weather Service, most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service also advises that in hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Drivers are advised not to attempt to cross flooded roads and instead find alternate routes.
