Mozart Festival Texas Debuts Third Season

The music of Mozart has not gone out of style since his time, and the third incarnation of the Mozart Festival Texas has some of the master's greatest works on tap. "Of course, we feature other composers too," says founder and maestro Terry Frazor. "This year Beethoven, Brahms, and even Scarlatti get their due."

New this year is a "Debut Concert" that will feature younger performers who will play Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms on the concert, Friday, July 26th. "I wouldn't call them students, although some are just graduating or are in college. They are young professionals and this gives them a podium, or you could call it a spotlight performance really, to share their talents," adds Frazor.

Saturday night brings the Artisan Quartet, along with violinist Daniel Kobialka, and pianist Ryo Yanigitani together for Mozart and Beethoven. Both concerts start at 8pm and are in Our Lady's Chapel at the University of the Incarnate Word. The festival continues August 2nd and 3rd with a piano recital and orchestral concert.

John Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania.
