A singer hits San Antonio this evening, bringing with him a new performance genre. That singer is Korean Baritone Claudio Jung, known for singing opera arias, European songs, Korean lyric songs--he's from Korea--and others. And now, he's singing this.

"Operama, which is a convergence of Opera and Drama," says Dr. Seongbae Lim, who invited Jung to San Antonio. What's his singing like? Like this.
Accompanying Jung will be a pianist and two dancers, that will help portray the drama part of the Operama hybrid. One of the songs he'll sing tonight celebrates the female divers of Jeju Island, south of Korea.
"In honor of this, Jung will premiere the song 'Jeju Haenyeo – Life in the Sea' and then many other familiar songs," Lim says.
Japan's One Asia foundation has helped bring Jung to America, including to last Friday night's sold out performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. And now he's set his sites on the Alamo City.
"It's at 7p.m., Treadeaway Hall, St. Mary's University," he says.
