Rock & Roll Marathon Moved Back to November... (subject to change)

The organizers of the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon had thought they fixed their hot weather issues when they moved the race date from November to December.

Now they are racing to return date back to November after a contract dispute with the Dallas Marathon which would have been run on the same date. This is the second time the footrace organizers have moved the date of the popular running event.

The Rock and Roll Marathon has been running the streets of San Antonio for the last five years and has been transformational for the city’s get-fit efforts.

Last year there were over 21,000 participants in the marathon and half marathon, but the temperatures crept into the 80’s, which can be dangerous for runners.

The Dallas Marathon which will be held Dec. 8 had a no compete contract with the Rock and Roll organizers.

Moving the dates has a ripple effect in San Antonio’s running community – many local racers are held to help train local runners for the 26.2 mile big event. So they too are likely to move their dates back.

So for now plan to run the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon Nov. 17.

But... on the official website there’s small print which warns this date is subject to change.
