The National Civic League has selected San Antonio as one of the 20 finalists for its annual All-American City Award.
Each year, 10 communities are selected to win the award, which highlights cities that are taking "innovative action to engage residents in ensuring that all children are healthy and supported to succeed in school and life."
“We are so proud to be selected as a finalist for the All America City award," City Manager Sheryl Sculley said. "This recognition underscores the tremendous collaborative efforts of our city departments, including Pre K 4 SA, Human Services, Metro Health, Parks and Recreation and other city departments, working together with United Way and the nonprofit community to create school-ready, healthy kids and successful families.”
San Antonio is the largest city on the list, sharing the spotlight with the likes of Missouri City, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Hartsville, South Carolina. Teams from each community will make their case for the award at a conference in Denver, Colorado this June.
