Animals have displayed complex behaviors that indicate a capacity for thought and emotion. The use of tools, the displays of grief, and even their reaction to the ill both human and animal, have all shown that–while different–animals do feel and think.
Carl Safina argues in his new book "Beyond Words: What Animals Think And Feel" that often to justify their exploitation, or to protect their egos humans have denigrated and undervalued this capacity. He dives into the science of animal cognition, behavior, emotion and thought.
