The Source: The Future Of B-Cycle In San Antonio

After 4 years, 55 stations, and hundreds of thousands of rides, San Antonio B-Cycle is rethinking it's future, and whether growing the system of rentable bikes is appropriate given its budget.

Reported in the Rivard Report last week, after years of small budgets, and limited funding from sponsors and and city government, organization head Cindi Snell is considering leaving the pro-bono position.

While the city directed federal stimulus dollars to the purchase of stations and bikes, funding for administrative overhead and employees is limited. The departure of one of the city's biggest cycling advocates from B-Cycle, throws the organizations future into doubt.

Since the story went public, some stakeholders are talking about rallying, but what will the future of B-Cycle be?
