The Source: Gender Gap In Cyber Security Makes All Users Less Safe

http://bit.ly/1lUOJjN

In 2015, cyber security spending grew nearly 5 percent to 75 billion dollars...and by 2020 it is projected to be 170 billion.

San Antonio is well positioned to build on that boom. The air force's cyber command is here, the National Security Agency has a team of elite hackers located in the city, and a record-setting number of middle and high school teams competing in national cyber security competitions like CyberPatriot.

Last year 300,000 cyber security jobs went unfilled. But who gets those jobs?

Technology has always been a boys club with 74 percent of all U.S. tech jobs filled by men, but it is even more drastic among cyber security professionals.

Only 10 percent of those jobs are filled by women.

When it comes to cyber security where are the Women?

Guests:

  • Josephine Wolff, assistant professor of Public Policy at the Rochester Institute of Technology, New America Foundation's cyber security initiative.
  • Stephanie Ewing-Ottmers, cyber security professional with Delta Risk a San Antonio-Based cyber security consulting group.
  • Caroline Meador, CEO of Decypher, a management and consulting technology company
