The Source: How To Remember The Alamo

The Alamo is Texas and some big moves by the state are making people wonder what the future may hold for this reverent place.

The General Land Office (GLO), which has maintained the Alamo since 2011, just kicked the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) out of the day-to-day administration of the shrine. The DRT had been involvedwith the Alamo since 1905.

The GLO also appointed a new panel to fund raise and provide a new vision for the future of the Alamo. Fundraising is a little easier when at least one of them--San Antonio's BJ 'Red' McCombs--is a billionaire. In addition, the state is looking at passing legislation that would endow the landmark with as much as $250 million.
