The Source: U.S. Funds Programs In Central America To Decrease Migration

Martin do Nascimento for The Texas Tribune
A student presents her answers to gang related questions in an El Salvador elementary school workbook. "What have you heard recently about gangs and violence?" the question asks. "That there are a lot of murders" reads the student's response.

The wave of unaccompanied minors coming up from Central America and arriving at the Texas-Mexico border continues. Many of the children are fleeing gang-fueled violence and a non-existent justice system in Honduras, Guatamala and El Salvador, but mainly from El Salvador - now the murder capital of the world.

The United States is looking to pump a billion dollars into the region to improve conditions and maybe end the mass exodus.
