The Source: Vincent Valdez On His Life In Art

Vincent Valdez

The work of Vincent Valdez is some of the most recognizable art coming out of San Antonio. His monumental charcoals and paintings have dealt with religion, social justice, and stereotypes around masculinity and ethnicity.

Growing up on San Antonio's south side, Valdez was recognized early on as a talent. After a degree at Rhode Island School of Design, Valdez would go on to become the youngest person--at 26 years old--to mount a solo exhibition at the McNay Art Museum. Since then Valdez has racked up successful exhibitions worldwide. Most recently, Valdez was named the "2015 Texas State Visual Artist 2D."
