Each year, the San Antonio Symphony leads the city in a musical celebration of a composer, focusing attention on an important body of work. This year, instead of a composer, Music Director Sebastian Lang-Lessing is looking to “Las Americas.” From the streets of New York to the salons of Argentina, the San Antonio Symphony and several other musical groups will immerse you in the music of our hemisphere this winter.
On January 10 at 7 p.m., you’re invited to join us for a special preview event at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Theater (1301 Guadalupe St.), featuring pianist Carolyn True of SOLI Chamber Ensemble, and Aaron and George Prado, courtesy Musical Bridges Around the World. True will offer a preview of SOLI’s “Postcards from Las Americas” concert, and Aaron Prado and father George will play Gershwin, Ellington, and jazz arrangements of the songs of Agustin Lara. Enjoy great music, and learn more through onstage conversation with the artists and TPR’s James Baker and Nathan Cone.
Following the program, there’ll be time for light refreshments and conversation at the theater. This event is free for TPR members and members of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. Non-members may attend for a suggested donation of $10.
Reservations for this event have closed, but seats may be available at the door.
