UTSA Brings World Class Classical Guitarist

Natalia Ferreira
Berta Rojas

A world class guitarist is coming to San Antonio on Friday. UTSA's director of guitar program Matt Dunne says Berta Rojas is highly acclaimed.

"Berta is a classical guitarist with a Latin-American twist, and she tends to blur some of the borders between classical music and Latin American music."

I suggested that the combination of the two is probably a really interesting combination. Dunne agreed.

"Berta is a great virtuoso. She plays very beautifully, very cleanly, with a great technical brilliance and a great warmth and friendliness in her playing."

Rojas has an interesting background.

"Berta was born in Paraguay in Asuncion. She grew up in Paraguay and then she moved to the United States, studied at the Peabody Conservatory, and then taught at National University in Washington. She has since been traveling the world playing recitals with orchestras and guitar festivals really around the world."

UTSA has brought her here for one performance, and in a place that's made for music.

"The concert is at 7:30 at the recital hall which is in the Arts building at the 1604 campus of UTSA."

And there's one more very important fact you should know.

"Oh, the concert's free! And parking is free after 5 at UTSA as well."
