YOSA Serves Up An Electric Surprise With Guest Tracy Silverman

The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio welcome guest musician Tracy Silverman for their next concert.
Silverman’s violin has six strings -- two more than most -- and those added strings make a huge difference in his sound.

When he joins forces with YOSA on Tuesday, November 19, at the Lila Cockrell Theater, they are planning on throwing the audience some curves.

"It’s set up as sort of a flash mob, where the orchestra appears out of the audience itself," Silverman said.

Silverman is a highly-accomplished musician who’s worked as a mentor with youth orchestras across the country and has high words of praise for YOSA.

"There are very few with the magnitude and organization and quality of YOSA," Silverman said. "YOSA has a mission to change kids’ lives through music. They’re not just an after-school activity."

YOSA’s Artistic Director Troy Peters said Silverman’s reputation precedes him:

"The BBC called him the greatest electric violinist in the world," Peters said.

Silverman invites all to a pre-concert workshop event Sunday at 7 p.m. in the UTSA Recital Hall.
