This week, we’ll catch the Big Fish in Nigeria, and look stateside for a festival that has kept one man on ice for over 20 years.

CONGRESO DE BRUJOS

Catemaco, Mexico lies on the Gulf of Mexico in Veracruz. Normally a sedate, drowsy little town, it becomes the center of witchcraft next weekend. The National Congress of Witches will be underway.

Toyko, Japan's Shugo Tokumaru is a rapidly rising star in his own country, and with his anticipated showcase at South By Southwest (SXSW) next month, perhaps worldwide. Tokumaru started playing the piano at age five, and has been immersed in the music world since then. His ardent fans await his releases with unbridled enthusiasm.

KONOMIYA HADAKA MATSURI FESTIVAL

Celebrating thirty years of performing, Lo'Jo, the French group from Angers, have released their thirteenth album. The title of the album says it all 'Cinema El Mundo', and the music unfolds as in a film.

It starts out with the aptly named "At The Beginning" and brings us along on a journey which incorporates music from North Africa. Vocals from the iconic English singer Robert Wyatt are added, and no Lo'Jo album would be complete without the El Mourid sisters.

BIKANER CAMEL FESTIVAL 

The West African nation of Mali has seen instability and violence since March of 2012 when a military coup overthrew the government of President Amadou Toumani Touré. Since then, the violence has escalated as Islamic extremists have joined the fighting and further divided the country into North and South.

This month France announced their intervention due to the rapid escalation of violence over the last few months, and the United States is now helping with operational support.
