Carlos Francisco Jackson, professor of chicana/o studies at the University of California-Davis, and George Vargas, professor of art history at Texas A & M University-Kingsville, discussed the meaning of the term "Chicano" in 2012. Vincent Valdez has been called one of San Antonio’s great young artists. He was , at 24, the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition at the McNay Art Museum. On The Newsmaker Hour, we walk through his newest exhibit, America’s Finest. We also talk to two filmmakers, Angela and Mark Walley of Walley Films, as they discuss their work documenting San Antonio artists. They recently completed their short documentary on Valdez’ work. Finally we will hear Valdez in lecture, walking an audience at the McNay through his career.
